About Me
My first story appeared in a shopping mall art show with a yellow construction-paper cover, and told the true story of fairies who lived under my cousin’s staircase. Many years later, at 13, I wrote my life’s mission statement: Dance, write, run. With entwined passions of movement and words, I earned degrees in Exercise Science and English/Creative Writing, served as editor-in-chief of a health and fitness magazine, taught high school English and wrote grants and advocacy pieces for adults with intellectual disabilities who seek fulfillment in dance and fitness.

Creative writing is my passion. I love prompts and deadlines, boundaries that challenge writers to flex their writing muscles in new and surprising ways. I indulge in writing fiction, memoir, and poetry as a proud member of The Glen Echo Writers Workshop in Maryland, founded and led by author Michelle Brafman.
Movement—especially my yoga practice—empowers my writing practice. I sing the body electric because the writer’s senses are as essential as an alphabet. The ability to harness imagination, still the mind long enough to capture an image, sift through memory—these are skills tied to breath and movement and neural connections. Creating an environment that inspires deep release and exhilaration— this is magic I can make for myself and others.

My work is informed by my love for people and animals, music, wandering, comedy improv, neuroscience, cancer survival, meditation and dreams, forests and beaches. I’ve lived in the Rust belt, southern states, New Jersey, Hawaii, Washington DC, Israel, and Oman. I currently live in Bethesda, Maryland with my husband, our three young-adult children, two rescue dogs, and an abundance of gratitude for all of it.
